Wrestling: Ep 20 - TLC Tag League Final Battle

I am already trained. JD is joined by a different Colin (ubertieguy) for this cast as we first talk about some more wrestlers signing with ROH, and then move into thoughts over the next batch of NXT call-ups to Raw and SD (0-26).
Our wrestler spotlight covers the revolutionary Dynamite Kid. We go over who he was, what he meant to wrestling, and how good he was especially his rivalry with Tiger Mask (26-41).

In this episode, we get to cover some interesting events coming out of the indie scene in the UK (41-58).
David Starr defended his title over in RPW at Cockpit 35, while Progress wrestling was busy releasing two chapters in 80 and 81 with a heavy focus on their tag team division.

Into tier 2 promotions, ROH had their final ppv of the year with a lot of send offs of the Elite leaving. Final Battle sure seemed to live up to its name (58-1:21). Finally, NJPW's tag league came to an end and the road to Wrestlekingom happened. What went down at tag league, and Ospreay and Ibushi had a moment (1:21-1:37).

WWE also had their final ppv of 2018 in TLC. The women lived up to the main event while some others sank the crowd. Also, a cage match happened in NXT. Quite a lot to discuss here (1:37-2:09).

We finish off the cast as we usually do with an episode of WCW Thunder (eps 14, 1998) the go home show before Spring Stampede. How will this one be (2:09-end)?
Cast completes with wrestler rankings and community shoutouts.

Retrocast: Ep 34 - Character Origins

More holiday cheer coming. This cast starts off with talking some Smash Ultimate and lots of opinions over an indie release titles To The Moon (0-31).
For our topic segment we discuss more bad news coming out of shady moves the gaming industry is making, but we do follow that up with talking about some of our favourite gaming characters (31-56).

Of course, our last theme for 2018 is all about games that featured a new character that we see in future games. Character Origins is important to establishing a franchise, but are the games any good (56-end)?

Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2)
Sonic 2 (Gen)
Alex Kidd in Miracle World (SMS)
Punch Out (NES)
Kirby's Dream Land (GB)
Ninja Gaiden (NES)

Anime: Ep 39 - Legend of the Galactic Heroes (with Andrew from Recovery of an Anime Junkie)

A good dictator or a corrupt democracy? In this podcast episode we are joined by Andrew from the Recovery of an Anime Junkie podcast in his second appearance. First, we have our usual housekeeping and our contest winner announcement (0-7).
We got some news like a new Rumiko manga, new Ghost in the Shell coming, and making fun of Andrew's three favourite anime in a call back to our very first anime episode (7-56).

In 1988, an OVA space opera series started and it went on to be regarded as one of the greatest anime of all time. That tile is called the Legend of the Galactic Heroes. We cover season one aka episodes 1-26, and we discuss, break down, and analyze this epic to the fullest extent we could (56-end).

Wrestling: Ep 19 - One Big Neck Leyende de Hamburg

Nobody is as tough as the chief. We introduce this cast with a little Scott Hall talk from Rad followed by some wrestling news (0-18).
Our wrestler spotlight in this one covers the NWA legend Chief Wahoo McDaniel. He was an extremely popular wrestler out of the mid-atlantic and we are here to relive a bit of it (18-31).

The indie scene was busy as usual in November (31-1:21).
NOAH finished their global league, Stardom finished tag league and had 'best of goddess' show, and RPW was back at the guildhall with PAC in the main event (31-43). Progress had Ch 79 with a returning Travis Banks in the ring (43-51). wXw had their fallout show from Broken Rules in Hamburg to crown the true wXw champion (51-1:04). Impact wrestling continues to set up their big January ppv with Final Hour and their building tv shows (1:04-1:14). Last to cover are episodes 31-33 of MLW as they set up two big event coming in December (1:14-1:21).

Into tier 2 promotions, as tag league in NJPW continues and ROH sets up for Final Battle, CMLL completed their Leyende de Plata annual tournament with some great lucha action (1:21-1:25).
In the latest for WWE, Rad and JD briefly discuss some ongoings within NXT UK, NXT post War Games, and our stance on who is indeed 'the man' (1:25-1:47).

We finish off the cast as we usually do with an episode of WCW Thunder (eps 13, 1998) 10 days before Spring Stampede. How will this one be (1:47-end)?
Cast completes with wrestler rankings and an iTunes review.

Anime: Ep 38 - Gunslinger Girl (2018 Fall Impressions)

If you were broken, would you become a killing machine? Tori watched so many movies, but which ones is he going to bring up for discussion this time? Also, Netflix has made a splash bring live action adaptations, Cowboy Bebop, and Evangelion to stream legally (0-45).
The time has finally come as the hosts here cover 9 anime to give their Fall 2018 impressions over (45-2:00).
Index season 3 (45-51)
Tsurune (51-53)
Release the Spyce (53-58)
Zombieland Saga (58-1:07)
SSSGridman (1:07-1:20)
Bunny girl (1:20-1:36)
Bookstore Honda-san (1:36-1:44)
Run with the Wind (1:44-1:50)
Karakuri Circus (1:50-2:00)
Our retro anime up for review is when Madhouse reigned supreme and didn't really make sequels. It's about if broken young girls get a second chance at life converted into spies and killing machines in an anime called Gunslinger Girl from 2003 (2:00-end).

Wrestling: Ep 18 - Global War Games Series

I always get my man. ACH and Walter have supposedly signed with WWE. What does this mean (0-11)?

Back in the early 90's of the WWF, highly gimmick characters were a-plenty. This episode we spotlight the evil Canadian wrestler The Mountie (11-19).

In the indie scene JD breaks down some event highlights of various promotions (19-49).
A discussion starts with GWF and WrestlingKult French wrestler Senza Volto. Move into discussing the fallout from the She-1 over in Pro Wrestling Eve (23-28). Then, a little update over a match from NOAH's Global League and wXw's event Broken Rules feature PCO v Dragunov in the main event (29-43). The indie scene is concluded reviewing RPW's Uprising event Starr v Ishii (43-49).

Into Tier 2, JD has some thoughts over NJPW's tag league as well as some decent to good matches featured during ROH's Global Wars tour (49-56).

WWE had a big weekend with NXT War Games and Survivor Series. Did they deliver or was it simply dull (56-1:23)?

It wouldn't be RLR without finishing out the cast by looking back. WCW Thunder Eps 12 - 26 Mar. 1998 (1:23-end). Podcast wrestler rankings to finish out and a brief talk over Progress Ch 78.

Anime: Ep 37 - The Vision of Escaflowne

Your heart is a flutter. Enter the contest as we celebrate over 100 episodes and coming up on two years (0-9). Tori has a movie update with brief discussion over Barefoot Gen (9-24).
In a quest to keep up with all those shounen anime, JD finally caught up and finished Fairy Tail 2014 and boy do we have some things to say over that (24-47).
In our topic of the episode, we break down what and how important music in anime is (47-1:18).
Our retro anime up for review is the 90's high fantasy by the name of The Vision of Escaflowne. Starring a young girl summoned to a mech battle stricken world, do the hosts find Hitomi and the show worth checking out today (1:18-end)?

Wrestling: Ep 17 - Ultima Lucha Survival of the Struggle

Hey yo. It's survey time. Let's compare WWE in Saudi Arabia to NJPW in North Korea back in the early 90's (0-16).

One of the biggest names of the 90's was Scott Hall. Be it when he was Razor Ramon in ladder matches or part of the original nWo, the bad guy is worth going back to spotlight (16-36). Jay from the Smack It Down podcast joins JD to discuss in this fantastic episode.

The wide world of wrestling on the indies is ramping up to another big outing. We discuss a whole lot from A-Kid in White Wolf Wrestling out of Spain, wXw Road to Broken Rules, Stardom True Fight 2018, Bar Wrestling 21, Lucha Underground season 4 finale Ultima Lucha Cuatro, and Progress Ch 77 (36-1:26).

From there, Robert from the "Loud Mouth Wrestling" podcast joins JD to discuss the on-goings in AJPW (1:26-1:37) and the start of NOAH wrestling's Global League to round up the indie scene (1:37-1:56).

Into Tier 2, Robert from LM Wrestling and JD discuss ROH Survival of the Fittest and how it plays into the state of ROH (1:56-2:25).

Jay returns to join JD for review and fallout from NJPW Power Struggle, brief thoughts on-look into tag league and how it all plays into Wrestle Kingdom (2:25-2:47).

WWE has gone insane. NKT UK, NXT into War Games, and WWE booking looking back and into Survivor Series. Is there a method to the madness (2:47-3:22)?

It wouldn't be RLR without finishing out the cast by looking back. WCW Thunder Eps 11 - 19 Mar. 1998 (3:22-end). Podcast wrestler rankings to finish out.

Retrocast: Ep 32 - The Strange and the Weird

Such an oddball. Yep, we got our intro including Kevin talking about his experience with Psychonauts (0-14). Lots of industry news occurred in between casts and not the good kind with the likes of Activision and Bungie being more greedy than ever (14-43).

November is an odd month and to go along with it being in between scary and festive, the theme chose for this cast of games that come across as strange or weird. Join us as we wander through some strange art, weird characters, and downright odd games (43-end).

Oddworld Abe's Oddysee (PS)

Kabuki Quantum Fighter (NES)

Anime: Ep 36 - Gatchaman

Fire the bird missile! This episode begins with talk over season 2 of Netflix's Castlevania. Is the show worth checking out? Tori brings us up to speed over the next couple anime films he watched such as the Space Cobra movie (0-23).
We run over an updated moving bar which is some new shows we could possibly review that are now over 15 years old [Fall 2003] (23-35).
Have you ever wanted to watch older anime, but don't know where to start? Each host picked 3 retro shows to recommend for new anime fans (35-1:13).
Our retro anime up for review is the 1970's superhero team hit called Gatchaman. The show entailed many spinoffs, OVAs, and movies, but was the original show any good and does it hold up (1:13-end)?

Wrestling: Ep 16 - Global Wars Evolution

Don't throw chairs into the ring! As a fun start off, we do a start your own wrestling promotion fantasy draft with 10 picks each among five people (0-29).

Remember how crazy ECW was? Well, our spotlight covers possibly the most popular tag team to come from the extreme promotion in the Public Enemy (29-48).

Tier 3 indie had a little variety lately. Tessa Blanchard and Mercedes Martinez had a 75 min ironwoman match out of Rise wrestling, and we also cover events from RPW's Global Wars UK event. We finish up the indies by catching up with events from Lucha Underground season 4 heading into the finale at Ultima Lucha Cuatro (48-1:08).
